Just thinking a lot lately. I keep running around and felt beaten up and bruised like a prized fighter keeping his belt on the ring like Manny Pacquiao. I beat up and get beaten time and time again on the ring, and all of these happened while I was sitting down here in Bacolod City! (I am actually preparing for an online business next year).
Standing up to your Competition
How does this happen? You would ask? Some call it stress. This, they say, is the epitome of the 21st Century. Simply stated, most wars, (except in some strange places) have been discontinued and to be resumed “totally in the mind”. (Or on your computer if your thing shows signs of slowing down. )
The Art of War was written by Sun Tzu 600-500B.C. for generals to prescribe courses of action in physical wars and inter-national conflicts. While most people have found no need for the manuscript in the recent centuries, except for Napoleon Bonaparte in his conquest of Europe, the Russo-Japanese Ware, and the Vietcong during the Vietnam War, the book became an instant bestseller.
Nevertheless, the book found new popularity towards the end of the 20th Century and is primarily used for Business. Basically, the book is the combined wisdom of Chinese Philosophers, primarily Sun Tzu, in philosophical fashion, the effective ways and methods of warfare. With this I can’t help but think about our national hero, not Rizal but Manny Pacquiao. I am wondering what kind of mental toughness he had to have to best out all others in one of the fiercest games played in the modern world – boxing.
Going back to my excited/stressed dilemma, I remember what my sociology Teacher taught us in Grade 7 in La Salle, He said that while the hunters and gatherers of old times felt physical pain, fresh wounds and cuts, the modern society offers a new war. You get bruise and cuts through vicariously while you sleep! And it scratches your blood pressures and adds sleepless nights over wars in the Mind.
A business doesn’t get fought out anywhere else but in your head. So, everyday when you go to office, brush your teeth, when you sleep, when you feel losing your battle, it all feels like a lion just pounced on you. But there is good news. You can actually fight a winning streak like Manny Pacquiao. Yet it takes preparation and a lot of discipline.

Manny wins his fights by winning on the training ring everyday and training with stronger, more powerful sparring mates. I’m sure our Manny feels big bears punching him everyday, mentally and . . . .even in his sleep!
So, if you find yourself restless and sleepless during the night, you are not alone. There are countless others in the same ring with their fiercest opponent, whether it is a rival salesman in the office, a department head competing for your position or your target job, or your neighbor buying the car you enviously tried to have. If you are in Bacolod and are trying to blog or build a website or podcast or compete in network marketing, try to give me a call and lets exchange notes.
This might just help you, or even better, help me. Help Me! 🙂
