Toastmasters Speech Number 2
In the beginnging God created the Heavens and the Earth. The Earth was without form and Void; and a Great darkness was hovering over the entire Universe. Then God created man in his own image.
The story of Genesis is mythic in its proportions. We can see the beginning of Creation. And like the Star Wars, the Phantom Menace, the dark side begins its accent to Power. The enemy’s treachery began a rebellion with repercussions affecting a million stars. Then God creates man and his introduction to the Universal War is eminent. Man was born in War. He was created in wilderness.
Man’s Integral Design
Man’s Design might have something to do with the Rebellion. He was created to showcase the triumph of free will in worship against the Dark Side. That is why he is wild. He was created to resist the Dark Side and live in the Light. Then, when everything was established, God created woman.
How then do you explain that little boys are increasingly mobile in their play compared to the relational games of little girls? The Educational Institutions try to keep boys more, say, academic but are limited to contain his wildness. He seeks adventure and wars and battles. Eventually, males socialized and made more peaceful and in a way, feminine, are never the same. They are no longer men.
Men are Bored
Unfortunately, the Genesis story didn’t end there. Like Luke Skywalker falling to the volcano and losing his arm, his silence in the garden in his most crucial fight to defend God’s authority against the Dark Side brought him to be, Darth Vader’s newest apprentice. Men have become corrupted and darkened. His power is stolen by the Dark Side.
But not everything is lost. God’s workmanship of finding Battle is still there. But men are lost.
Men in institutions and churches today are bored. In their office, they are facing deadlines and meetings. A part of him that wants to master nature is repressed. In society, men aren’t challenged but forced to be “nice citizens” follow the law, etc but his heart is never there. He yearns adventure. In churches, what do you expect of the men? Just sit around and listen to mass. If you really want to be heroic, join the altar boys. This is the pinnacle of being a man.
In Philippines society, men are having less and less say in the Government and women are becoming more aggressive. This gender role reversal brings in more confusion to modern Men. Weak fathering (Read the Post Fathering the Generations) creates passive or violent men, and angry or overworked women.
Man’s Heart is wild and the most that society and institutions expect him to be is to be Nice. You could then perceive why many women are attracted to Bad Boys, he is living a part of his design, (in a negative way).
Men search for Battle
Have you ever found men who are passive? There is something missing with that guy. He follows all the rules, he is courteous and nice and always smiles. Girls, would you trust this guy going out on a dark night with trouble? So Evil went prancing and stole our Power without a fight. Adam was standing with her during the Temptation. The Eternal Fate of Mankind is lost without a single shot fired.
But in an Amazing rescue, God promised the “Return of the Jedi”. He will come back and send a Jedi among us to take back by Force what we’ve lost.
Man was born in Wilderness, in War. He was designed for Battle.
The First Man was passive and didn’t defend Eve. Now, Men are confused and wouldn’t fight. They stay bored.
Now, Men are searching for Adventure. And they will only be answering their call by finding a Battle to Fight.
Some of you may be married to a passive man, or worse a violent man. This means that your man is diverting their appetite for battle into the wrong place. Some may be fortunate to find the perfect guy.
Now that we know about men, what can we do about it? Here are some tips on how to understand the Men in your Life.
1. Allow opportunities for your Man to Lead. Guys are looking for ways they can prove themselves. They are also sensitive when you step into their pride. So much asking for directions.
2. (For Violent Men) Put some boundaries / limits. It would be hard but doable. For more information read New Life Live.
3. If you are a man, find out what you are passionate about and pursue it!
4. . . .Team up with other Men who are passionate about what you do. Or involve them.
5. Allow other men to Mentor you. (He’s gonna be your Captain) Allow older men to give you advice. (He’s gonna be your General!)
Learn all you can from them.
The quest for a Man’s Heart Never ends while the Dark Side lurks in the Earth. We must constantly guard our Hearts, our Loved ones and our Family if we are to answer the Call for the Battle to Fight.
