Lots of Money can easily make anyone famous. If fact, Money has been the number one source of failure for both companies and people. Excellent stewardship of the resources that God has given you is a prerequisite to be on the top.
One of the comments I have heard working abroad is “Spaniards” are lazy. And while Filipinos are hardworking and industrious, there is still an influence of the “siesta” time. When I came for vacation back in 2008, I was surprised that banking hours were extended to 5pm. and it’s not hard to tell why. The Chinese Owner of this bank had enough power and clout to overrun the cultural practice of banking till 3pm only. It’s this new work ethic plus the strength of the Biggest Network of Malls in the Philippines that gave the push such that this bank is the biggest in the Philippines today.
The lesson: change is inevitable. People (or businesses) who are willing to work harder will always win in the long term and those who want to sleep will definitely find themselves adjusting and reacting to the leadership of those who do. (Read the Spenders vs the Thrifts) Worse is when that sleep is coupled with the desire to own more leisure and pay it on credit – this is a complete disaster. See my post Solutions to Financial Cramming.
However, when it comes to evaluating business prowess and entrepreneurship, it is not enough to be rich and famous. They should make a legacy, consisting of inspirations, reputations, outstanding brands and companies that improve people lives. Below are a list of Entrepreneurs in the Philippines who have made an impact and a difference in the lives Filipinos inside and outside the country.
These Famous Filipino Entrepreneurs and their brands in the Philippines. These prominent entrepreneurs and business magnates are not listed in any particular order but those with data on net worth is placed on top of the list.
