Manila at 4th, Bacolod City back at 94th of Top 100 Outsourcing Cities in 2013
After a long hiatus in 2011 and 2012, Bacolod City comes back to the prestigious list of the List of the Top 100 Outsourcing Cities in the World for 2013.
At the Top of the list are the two greatest Information Technology Cities in India, – Bangalore and Mumbai. Their strong competitive advantage is having English as their second language. This is followed by our beloved Manila, in 3rd place – one notch higher than before. What is interesting in the list is that it is dominated by India followed by China.
I have my chance of finding online jobs from Odesk.com, which is the 44th most visited site in the Philippines as of June 2013. What I have found that although Filipinos are more competent and are proven in their quality, the Indians and Chinese, (aside from offering cheaper prices for work) are relentless in bidding and looking for jobs.
Here is the list of the Top Outsourcing Cities in 2013

I am wondering why with the strong population and education level of Filipinos, our major cities except Metro Manila hasn’t made it to higher levels. (Bacolod even exit the list) Most of the cities that come up in the list are Non-English Speaking Countries, except of course from India. I believe that the most populous cities in the Philippines could be in the top thirties and forties of the Outsourcing List. What do these Non-English speaking cities excel at?
As much as speaking English is an advantage for Filipinos, there are other important factors to be in the Top List: economic stability, cost efficiency, IT education including infrastructure and, government support and safeguards for the BPO industry in the country.
What’s your say? Share your thoughts 😉
