The Dubai Chronicles

A journey never begins until you take the first step. These are the basic steps.

Documents:

  1. Passport – check expiry
  2. Visa ( This can be paid for but can be provided by your relative in Dubai)

You can find visa from https://www.facebook.com/mcfabia

  1. Good Reason to come back to the Philippines

Any traveler going to Dubai will be considered by the Philippine Government as a potential expense as many Filipinos plan to find work and get deported by the Philippine government. As great as the OFW’s are to the economy, they are not paying a penny for their government to send them home. It’s the taxpayers back home paying for their repatriation.

The Petition Letter basically assures the government that someone who is capable of supporting you lives in Dubai. Picture of your girl friend, Hehehe; or picture of your family member who lives there.

Ticket:

Make sure upon arrival that you are on proper dress code, no see-throughs, revealing clothing or very short shorts – you can do that on the beaches. You will have to go through the UAE Immigration and they are all conservative. They will only tolerate liberal dressing from Caucasians.

Budget:

For a start expect rentals to be pricey. One option to bring this price down is to look for relatives or friends to accommodate you. Others include to check airbnb.com to find some rentals.

For pocket money, a simple math will do the trick. Every day travel (2 trips out and 2 trips back – unless you are over the place) costs 15 AED = PHP 210 (one short trip is 3 AED and a long trip rang 5AED+)

For food allowance, it depends on location. If you live near where Indian workers live 10 AED (Php 140) is a good meal. For reference, a simple meal at malls Range 20 AED- 40 AED (Php 280 – 560) Multiply that to 3 meals and the number of days you will stay.

Take a 300-500 AED for pasalubong and you will be good to go. This is April 2018, prices may rise to inflation, adjust accordingly.
