What Would I Do if you’d be given P100M (2M USD)?

Archian - Life, Bacolod, Architecture, Finances & Dubai

What Would I Do if you’d be given P100M (2M USD)?

630pm.

After a talk with my boss, I am off to the center to have our regular Group Meetings. I just came in time to answer a million dollar question. In fact 2 Million Dollars! The question was “What would you do if you’d be given P100M?”

Greed, money corrupts easily

Greed, money corrupts easily

I answered that 100M could be deadly. It could destroy you. Only a fear of God and key relationships could keep you in check. There’s just too much turbulence when you get to that altitude and that a fall is certain for majority of us. Come to think of it, as great as it is, this is the first time money this huge is suddenly thrust upon us.

After a long pause I give my answer.

For one, many people would have their answers and depending on your opinion they could say this one is better . . . So I thought what do I really want?

I answered “I would like to take the first 2 weeks on a solo journey of reflection.”

Then I’d come back to spend time with my family. Then I’d show them my plans to buy land in three islands:
1. Palawan (1500sq.m. along beachfront ) P8M for land and 12M for a Room rental Property.

Well, I guess the rest would be used for paying employees for reception and butlers etc. 🙂

I still think the question was not written on the Group discussion material. But for a few moments I started to dream. How would life feel like if I were limitless? What dreams would I pursue. The truth is, I have one life to live. And these dreams are not far from impossible. Do you know that God has given you everything you need so you can succeed? Take note of that feeling when you dream because you will need to remember that when challenging times come to test your character.

And so the rest of the group answered. One wanted to buy stocks, another wanted 4 chicks and a mansion, another will buy nuclear warheads and target the ISIS. Still another said he would buy roses and share world peace for all mankind.

Ikaw, how would you spend if you were given that money?

And what dreams are you throwing away? Is it possible that you’d for once start believing its possible?

Because it is!

If you have plans to build a Resort, a Rental House, why don’t you ask for it? If you have land waiting to be developed? Next step is to find a partner a designer or architect that will translate these dreams to reality. For more information, contact Arch Ian Jay Bantilan.

Arki Thesis blues: the Difference between Concept and Philosophy?

Arki Thesis blues: the Difference between Concept and Philosophy?

During my student years, concepts and philosophy never got explained clearly. It’s one of those things you read from the Project brief and your kind of catch from comparing notes with what your best friend did in Architecture School.

Architecture Sketch – Design Concept -Frank Gehry Partners

One of the challenge during school was that in UST, it always rained. And the guys who top the board exams are simply brilliant, hard researching dudes with monster drawing skills. Back to Architecture – here’s the Question: What is a concept?

A design concept is a statement that expresses your approach to the design problem. The concept speaks to a specific problem/project but is still in line with your Design Philosophy. It creates a connection between the design problem and the design solution. The concept is consistent throughout the design itself. Your concept should relate

The Jordan: Crossing the Promised Land

Filipinos are a breed of sentimental people. They seldom like goodbyes. But there was one goodbye from this land that was equally heavy emotionally: Moses who has fought and prayed and fasted to reach the Promise Land is a few kilometers of his goal but God says, this is as far as you can go.

This is Mount Nebo in Jordan.

How we ended there? is a long story. This how its happened.

Singapore: Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest

Singapore: Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest

“Architecture is man’s attempt to tame and imitate nature.” Arch Ian Jay Bantilan

The aim of man

Let’s see the Flower Dome.

The Flower Dome is the lower but larger of the two, at 1.2 hectares (3.0 acres). It replicates a mild, dry climate and features plants found in the Mediterranean and other semi-arid tropical regions (e.g. parts of Australia, South America, South Africa).

The Flower Dome is 38 metres (125 ft) high and maintains a temperature between 23 °C and 25 °C, slightly lower at night.

The Flower Dome features seven different “gardens” as well as an olive grove with a bistro and a central changing display field has also been incorporated to enable flower shows and displays to be held within the conservatory.

Elegant House in Puerto Real,  Lapaz, Iloilo City

Driving through the street onto the cul-de-sac, which is a street that ends in a round dead end, you can imagine how your lot owns the very road in front of you, sharing it with the other house. The house is a variant of mediteranean with arched windows, columns and french windows topped by a low pitched roof.

Singapore: NEX Mall and the Library

Archian - Life, Bacolod, Architecture, Finances & Dubai

Singapore: A Lifestyle of Learning!

Mahatma Gandhi once said that “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

Trekking outside our bed and breakfast accomodations, we found ourselves trekking the Serangoon Community. My only association to the place is a TV Series titled Serangoon Road. Turn to this link to read about my thoughts on the community. Even the church, though simple, is well planned with a fine entrance. We walked through the hot mid day sun in search of nourishment for our starving bellies. We planned to go to NEX Mall and instead, we found ourselves at the helm of Bartley station.

After a lot of sweat and tears and a few gardens, we reached NEX Mall. We strolled through the shops to the foodcourt and pounced on Indian Cuisine.

Quirky as it seems, we were on vacation on Singapore and of all places, we had to be in the Library. We found this to be at the roofdeck of NEX Mall!

How convenient! And the place was cozy with students doing assignments and drawings on the floor, and every delightful book including comics are available on shelf. Who wouldn’t have a love for books for a city like that. You could even borrow or return a book on weekends. The public library was open on weekends!

I am thinking. No matter how brilliant or intelligent a country is, if the other government is making it this easy to read – English, Malay, Tamil or Mandarin, wouldn’t they eventually win? And easy to guess why it is hard for us to catch up and they are far ahead – they have created a lifestyle of learning!
