The Tholons Report for Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations for 2013 has come out last January. I was wondering why I haven’t heard about Bacolod City – it is confirmed the it didn’t make the list in 2011 and 2012.  The Tholons Report reflects the changes in the global competition for outsourcing.

After a long hiatus in 2011 and 2012, Bacolod City comes back to the prestigious list of the List of the Top 100 Outsourcing Cities in the World for 2013.

At the Top of the list are the two greatest Information Technology Cities in India, – Bangalore and Mumbai. Their strong competitive advantage is having English as their second language. This is followed by our beloved Manila, in 3rd place – one notch higher than before. What is interesting in the list is that it is dominated by India followed by China. Continue reading

Metro Manila and Habagat: Preparedness for Natural Disasters

The Floods have hit Metro Manila again with waters up to 1.5m high and slowly receding while the rest of the Metropolis is still under water.

There was a suggestion to have all the 17 Mayors of Metro Manila work together and think of the Metro’s problems. At this stage, it is crucial for each mayor to collaborate for a bigger solution, but that option is a hardly possible. The problem with Metro Manila mayors is that they are all petty politicians who are more interested in protecting their political interests and their friend than really solving problems of urban management.
